Lauri Markkanen ne pourra pas aider son équipe nationale à se qualifier pour les J.O durant le TQO de Valence<\/a><\/h2>

La Finlande subit un coup dur avec l’absence de Lauri Markkanen<\/a> pour le Tournoi de Qualification Olympique (TQO) à Valence le mois prochain.<\/p>

Blessé à l’épaule, l’ailier fort des Utah Jazz n’a pas pu terminer la saison régulière de la NBA et ne pourra pas défendre les couleurs de son pays.<\/p>

« C’est évidemment difficile à encaisser », confie Markkanen. « Représenter la Finlande et jouer pour l’équipe nationale est un honneur pour moi. Toute la saison, mes coéquipiers et moi avons parlé de l’importance de participer aux Jeux olympiques. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

L’absence de Lauri Markkanen, auteur d’une impressionnante saison avec des moyennes de 23,2 points et 8,2 rebonds par match, est un coup dur pour l’équipe.<\/p>

La Finlande devra se qualifier en sortant d’un groupe difficile comprenant les Bahamas et la Pologne, avant d’éventuellement affronter l’Espagne, l’Angola ou le Liban.<\/p>

Le défi s’annonce d’autant plus ardu sans leur meilleur joueur.<\/p>

« Si l’histoire de notre sélection nous apprend quelque chose, c’est que nous sommes souvent meilleurs quand nous ne sommes pas favoris », rappelle Lassi Tuovi, le coach de l’équipe nationale. « Lauri Markkanen va nous manquer, mais le basket est un sport collectif. Un joueur est absent, c’est à un autre de prendre sa place. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Lauri Markkanen, ancien joueur des Cleveland Cavaliers et des Chicago Bulls, a déjà les yeux tournés vers 2025, lorsque l’EuroBasket se tiendra partiellement en Finlande.<\/p>

« Ces dates sont entourées sur mon calendrier », précise-t-il, montrant son engagement et son enthousiasme pour les futures compétitions internationales.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

En attendant, l’équipe finlandaise devra faire preuve de résilience et d’unité pour surmonter cette épreuve et tenter de décrocher une place aux Jeux olympiques sans leur étoile montante.<\/p>
