Dans une victoire écrasante de 120 à 95 contre les Cleveland Cavaliers mardi soir au TD Garden, Luke Kornet a livré une performance classique.<\/a><\/h2>

Mais voici la chose : Personne dans le Garden n’avait besoin d’une feuille de statistiques pour comprendre, apprécier et célébrer les contributions de ce joueur de 28 ans.<\/p>

Il était logique que Luke Kornet<\/a> serait appelé à jouer des minutes importantes dans cette série de demi-finales de la Conférence Est, Kristaps Porziņģis récupérant d’une blessure au mollet droit contractée lors du quatrième match de la série du premier tour contre Miami.<\/p>

Mais lorsque Kornet est entré en jeu avec 5 minutes et 31 secondes à jouer dans le premier quart-temps en remplacement d’Al Horford, il a fallu moins d’une minute pour qu’il montre clairement qu’il avait l’intention d’être…<\/p>

Absolument normal. Non, Kornet n’a pas marqué beaucoup de points – seulement quatre – mais il a réussi un contre au premier quart-temps.<\/p>

D’accord, les contres au premier quart-temps ne gagnent généralement pas les matchs. Mais un bon contre, par le bon joueur, dans les bonnes circonstances, peut donner le ton pour toute la soirée. Et c’est de cela dont il s’agit ici.<\/p>

Les Celtics sont sans Porziņģis jusqu’à nouvel ordre. C’est au joueur de  38 ans Al Horford de jouer un rôle sur le terrain et c’est à Luke Kornet d’être un joueur important sur des précieuses minutes lorsque l’entraîneur des Celtics Joe Mazzulla a besoin de lui.<\/p>

Dans ce match d’ouverture de série contre Cleveland, Mazzulla avait besoin de lui pour ces 21 minutes et il a remplit son rôle.<\/p>

Donovan Mitchell des Cavs a porté le ballon sur le terrain, mais avec Sam Hauser (qui venait également d’entrer en jeu) sur lui, ce qui a entraîné une passe à Isaac Okoro. Kornet a repoussé la tentative de lay-up d’Okoro. Jaylen Brown a suivi avec un lay-up, donnant aux Celtics une avance de 25 à 23.<\/p>

Le public a pu s’installer, croyant qu’avec Al Horford et Luke Kornet et d’autres, il y aurait de la puissance dans la raquette. Luke Kornet, avec ce contre, a fait vibrer l’endroit. Plus tard, la foule a provoqué cela : Ils ont commencé à crier son nom.<\/p>

« C’était cool », a déclaré Kornet. « Je n’avais pas vraiment eu ça depuis l’université, où ils le faisaient un peu. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Luke Kornet a joué au basket-ball universitaire à Vanderbilt. C’était il y a longtemps. Il a fait ses débuts en NBA avec les Knicks le 8 février 2018, et depuis, il a joué pour les Bulls, les Cavaliers et les Bucks en plus de deux passages avec les Celtics.<\/p>

Mais pour un gars qui a fait le tour du bloc plusieurs fois, il n’a pas beaucoup participé aux playoffs. Cela a généralement été une minute ici, une minute là au cours des quatre dernières années ; contre les Cavaliers mardi soir, c’était une minute ici, là et partout.<\/p>

« Enorme dans la raquette », a dit Mazzulla. En parlant de Xavier Tillman et Hauser, l’entraîneur a dit : « X, Sam, ces gars qui ont commencé… ça remonte à des moments de la saison régulière. Vous ne pouvez pas être une bonne équipe à moins que ces gars-là ne vous gagnent des matchs… il est important d’avoir des gars comme ça, et la présence de Luke a été importante pour nous ce soir. »<\/p><\/blockquote>

Mais parmi des gars comme ça, seul Luke Kornet a eu droit à une ovation au Garden.<\/p>

« Je m’amuse juste à jouer en playoffs », a déclaré Kornet. « C’est certainement agréable de pouvoir entrer dans le jeu et de contribuer tôt… C’est quelque chose que j’aimerais pouvoir faire à l’avenir, juste pouvoir faire mon travail…Parfois ça arrive, parfois ça n’arrive pas », a-t-il conclu. « Je veux juste pouvoir maintenir cette énergie à l’avenir. »<\/p><\/blockquote>

Au TD Garden mardi soir, une foule à guichets fermés de 19 156 personnes a pris plaisir à y participer, se levant et chantant le nom de Luke Kornet.<\/p>
