Bill Belichick et les Patriots ont terminé leur incroyable aventure en janvier 2023 après deux décennies couronnées d’un succès rarement égalé.<\/h2>

Ne pas voir Bill Belichick<\/strong><\/a> sur un banc de NFL est pour la plupart d’entre nous quelque chose de nouveau. Pourtant, il aurait pu s’assoir sur le banc des Falcons cette saison. Mais des discussions entre propriétaires ont eu raison du cas Bill Belichick à Atlanta.<\/p>

Arthur Blank, le propriétaire des Falcons, avait reçu Bill Belichick dans le cadre de sa recherche d’un nouvel entraîneur pour la saison 2024. Les falcons n’étaient d’ailleurs pas les seuls : Panthers, Raiders ou encore Commanders ont tous eu des contacts avec le légendaire coach.<\/p>

Mais ce sont les Falcons qui semblaient être les plus proches de le signer, jusqu’à un coup de fil de Robert Kraft.<\/p>

Bill Belichick « n’est pas digne de confiance »<\/h3>

Dans leur longue enquête, ESPN révèle que Robert Kraft aurait appelé Arthur Blank pour l’alerter au sujet de Belichick.<\/p>

« Mais lors d’une conversation avec Blank, Kraft a fait une évaluation sévère du caractère de Belichick, selon une source qui a parlé à deux personnes : un ami proche de Kraft et un confident de longue date de Belichick. La source a cité la source de Belichick qui a dit : « Robert a appelé Arthur pour l’avertir de ne pas faire confiance à Bill ». Ce récit a été confirmé, selon la source, par l’ami proche de Kraft. » peut-on lire sur ESPN<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>

Cette même source a ajouté plus tard que les Kraft se sont senti « trahis » par Bill Belichick. Ce dernier n’aurait sans doute pas pu s’intégrer dans le modèle et la vision qu’à Arthur Blank d’un coach, celui d’un homme qui doit faire « partie de la famille ». kraft n’aurait fait que faire éviter à Blank de « futurs maux de tête ».<\/p>

« Kraft a trouvé Bill extrêmement difficile, obstiné et têtu et, en fin de compte, il n’était pas digne de sa confiance. Et aussi très, très, très arrogant ».<\/p><\/blockquote>

Les 4 dernières années n’ont pas donné raison à Bill Belichick pour qui l’après Tom Brady a été plus que compliqué. Mais le manque de confiance semble peut-être un peu exagéré quand on garde un entraîneur autant de temps.<\/p>

L’euphorie du succès a peut-être occulté ces comportements décrits par Jeremy Fowler et ESPN, et le retour à la « normale » a peut-être ouvert les yeux des Kraft. La série « Dynasty » sur Apple TV+ donne aussi des indications malgré les vives critiques qui ont émanées de la part d’anciens joueurs sur le caractère très « anti-Belichick » de la série.<\/p>

À 74 ans, il est à présent presque improbable de revoir Bill Belichick un jour sur un banc de NFL.<\/p>
