En 1969, l’Utah a accueilli sa première équipe professionnelle de hockey, les Salt Lake Golden Eagles. Cette équipe est restée active jusqu’en 1994. L’année suivante, en 1995, le hockey professionnel a été relancé en Utah lorsque les Denver Grizzlies se sont rebaptisés les Utah Grizzlies et ont rejoint la Ligue Internationale de Hockey. Les Utah Grizzlies ont remporté un succès notable en décrochant le Championnat de la Coupe Turner lors de la saison 1995-96.<\/p>
Actuellement, les Utah Grizzlies servent d’équipe affiliée à l’ECHL pour l’Avalanche du Colorado de la LNH.<\/p>
