Over the years, he has become THE voice of NBA broadcasting. <\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hubie Brown&rsquo;s basketball career<\/h2><p>Before becoming a legendary broadcaster, Hubie Brown played over a year as a pro basketball player. Brown had a brief stint with the Rochester Colonels of the Eastern Professional Basketball League. He began his coaching career long before he played as a professional basketball player.<\/p><p>His first coaching stint was in 1955 <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hubie_Brown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>at St. Mary Academy in Little Falls<\/a>, New York where he coached both basketball and baseball teams.<\/p><p>His first big break came in 1972 when he joined the NBA as an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks under coach Larry Costello.<\/p><p>In 1974, Brown had a breakthrough moment when he was named head coach of the Kentucky Colonels in the American Basketball Association. Under his guidance, the Colonels lifted the ABA Championship trophy in 1975. <\/p><p>He then returned to NBA in 1976 but this time as a head coach for the Atlanta Hawks. In 1977, he won NBA Coach of the Year after a successful season with Hawks. <\/p><p>He continued his coaching career in the NBA until 2004, during which he coached the New York Knicks and the Memphis Grizzlies.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hubie Brown&rsquo;s broadcasting career<\/h2><p>In 2004, after his coaching career, Hubie Brown transitioned to broadcasting. Brown signed with ABC as their top NBA analyst. He worked alongside Al Michaels and Mike Breen on regular-season and playoff games, including the 2005 NBA Finals and 2006 NBA Finals.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hubie Brown&rsquo;s retirement<\/h2><p>Brown&rsquo;s final television broadcast is scheduled to occur on February 9, 2025, with ABC for the Milwaukee Bucks vs Philadelphia 76ers game.
