The Thai Prime minister met with F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali discussing their willingness to participate in Grand Prix racing. Thailand already has a Formula 1 racing driver. Alex Albon is a Thai-British F1 veteran competing for Williams F1. The country is already involved in motorsports and not a stranger to hosting races.<\/p><p>Thailand hosts MotoGP at Buriram. Their race track has been FIA accredited. However, the government proposes a street race in the heart of Bangkok. The Formula 1 calendar already hosts 24 races a season. <a href=\"https:\/\/theplayoffs.news\/en\/mohammed-ben-sulayem-looks-forward-to-12th-formula-1-team-on-grid-fia-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>The FIA President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, has shown more interests in introducing more F1 teams rather than new races.<\/a> F1 has also been changing their calendar for accommodating the newer races like Barcelona. Nevertheless, the Formula 1 schedule is already jam packed with classic and new street races.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Thai Government Proposes Massive Investment Plans for Thailand Formula 1 Proposal<\/h2><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/sports\/formula1\/thai-cabinet-approves-12-bln-bid-host-formula-1-race-2028-2025-06-17\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>According to reports from Reuters, Thailand is going all in trying to woo Formula 1 to their country.<\/a> Government officials have also approved a $1.23 billion in order to host a Thailand Street Circuit race in Formula 1. The government plans on bringing a race to the country as soon as 2028. They are looking forward to a five-year contract from 2028-2032 for hosting Grand Prix.<\/p><p>The main goal behind bringing F1 to Thailand is promoting tourism. Thai tourism is one of the major factors contributing to the country&rsquo;s economy. Formula 1 and Thailand have not agreed to a deal yet. However, the government is making to not let any stone go unturned in their efforts.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Thailand has committed $1.2bn to bring Formula 1 to its capital city &#127481;&#127469;<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/sAxlprV7mJ\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>https:\/\/t.co\/sAxlprV7mJ<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Autosport (@autosport) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/autosport\/status\/1934932698625397155?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>June 17, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure><p>According to a government spokesperson, their motive behind the move is-<\/p><p><strong>&ldquo;In the next 2-3 years, Thailand will have world-class competition, which we never thought would actually happen in Thailand.&rdquo;<\/strong><\/p><p>Currently, Formula 1 hosts 4 races in the South-Pacific. This includes the historically famous, Singapore Grand Prix. It will difficult for Thai Grand Prix to find a place according to the current Formula 1 schedule.
