Lewis Hamilton was chasing the the pole position for the British Grand Prix during the qualifying session today. The Briton was looking set to make a mark in front of his crowd. Hamilton’s pace was significantly better during the practice sessions. His Ferrari’s lap times prompted McLaren to consider them as their rivals for the British GP. The qualifying session was equally intense for the seven time champion.<\/p>
Lewis Hamilton barely managed to get out of Q1. His team did not let him continue for better laps in Q1. Although, the second qualifying session ended up very positively for Lewis Hamilton. He was the fastest driver in Q2. The final stage of the qualifying wasn’t as merciful to Hamilton however. He was initially in the hunt for a pole position but ended up P5 on the starting grid for today’s race. Hamilton’s final run was not as effective compared to his rivals.<\/p>
Lewis Hamilton went from being one of the fastest drives this weekend to struggling in the final laps of qualifying. In his final run, he managed to set the fastest lap time in the first sector before Verstappen took over. While exiting the third and last sector, he made a mistake going slightly off track in the gravel. Hamilton lost time considerably due to his error and couldn’t improve on his time from Q2.<\/p>
During the post-qualifying interviews, Hamilton was asked about his thoughts on the session.<\/p>
\n“Yeah, the lap was pretty decent at the end. At then I lost a bit of time in the last cast corner. Which could’ve put me on front row or at least third, but we are right on the knife edge. I think, other than that squeezed everything I could’ve out of the car.”<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>
