Center Naz Reid remains central to the Western Conference finalists&rsquo; vision, with a major extension now reportedly close.<\/p><p>According to ESPN&rsquo;s Shams Charania, Reid is close to signing a new five-year deal worth $125 million, which also features a player option. Both sides are aligned, and the extension now appears to be just a matter of timing.<\/p><p>The Minnesota Timberwolves want to build their roster around Anthony Edwards and hence have aligned Naz Reid&rsquo;s contract with Edwards. Though undrafted in 2019, the Timberwolves recognized his upside early and signed him to a two-way deal.<\/p><p>Splitting time between the G-League and the NBA, Naz Reid slowly developed into a premier centre. His growth has been immense and that has brought him a starting role. The 25-year-old also won the NBA sixth man of the year award in 2024.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reid Powered Deep Playoff Push<\/h2><p>Naz Reid played a pivotal role in Minnesota&rsquo;s impressive 2024-25 NBA campaign, anchoring both ends of the floor. The defensive powerhouse averaged 14.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. He shot 46.2 % from the field and 37.9 % from beyond the arc.<\/p><p>The Minnesota Timberwolves battled their way to the Western Conference Finals, marking their deepest run in recent years. They made a late push for the playoffs and qualified for it on the last day of the regular season.
