The Detroit Lions’ 2025 season was a major disappointment. After a franchise-best 15-2 record and divisional round playoff run in 2024, the Lions have surprisingly regressed rather than getting better. Finishing the season with a 9-8 record, Dan Campbell and his squad missed out on the playoffs entirely. They were officially eliminated in Week 17 after a 23-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, finishing 4th in the NFC North<\/a>, falling behind the Vikings who struggled throughout the 2025 season with their QB play. High expectations quickly turned into frustration as injuries and inconsistency plagued the team all year. <\/p>

Much of the decline was attributed to the departures of offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, who left for head coaching jobs (Bears and Jets, respectively) in the 2025 offseason. The loss of both coordinators clearly caused the Lions to lose a step on both sides of the ball, leading to growing pains and a noticeable step backward from their recent elite form.<\/p>

Lions’ Strength of Schedule Analysis and Prediction for 2026-27 NFL Season <\/h2>

According to multiple sources, the Detroit Lions<\/a> have on of the easiest schedules in the league for the 2026-27 regular season, with a strength of schedule of only (.467), making it the 6th easiest schedule of all 32 teams. <\/p>

Last season, the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Packers, 16-3, to guarantee themselves third place in the NFC North, which meant, the Lions were destined for a 4th place finish. This was frankly surprising for a team that is filled with talents and the offensive and the defensive side of the ball. But that loss obviously favored their 2026 schedule by getting them easier opponents. <\/p>

The Lions will play their three division rivals twice, particularly the Vikings, Packers, and Bears- once at home and once on the road. In 2026, the NFC North will face all four teams in the NFC South and AFC East divisions. <\/p>

By finishing in fourth place in the NFC North, the Lions’ 2026 schedule will feature matchups against the fourth-place teams in the AFC South, NFC East, and NFC West. Prediction<\/h3>

The Detroit Lions have some of the easiest schedules in the league and are mostly going up against teams that missed out on the playoffs entirely last season. Their schedule strength is the 6th easiest in the league at .467, which should make it much easier to enter the postseason in the upcoming season. <\/p>

The Lions, despite their disappointing results in the 2025-26 season, have some of the best players in the league including talented receivers like Amon-Ra St. Brown, RBs like David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, and also have a talented QB in Jared Goff, while also having pass rushers like Aidan Hutchinson or veteran Al-Quadin Muhammad. However, their weak link has been their secondaries, which needs to change in order to make a deep playoff run. <\/p>

Having said that, the Lions are still a rock solid team despite not making the playoffs last sesaon. And we believe that them making the playoffs next season is very likely, with their easy schedule.<\/p>

Detroit Lions Super Bowl LXI Odds for 2026-27 Season<\/h2>

According to the latest  Super Bowl odds on FanDuel<\/a><\/strong>, the Detroit Lions are (+1600<\/a>)<\/strong> to win Super Bowl 61 next season. <\/p>

As mentioned earlier, the Lions have elite talent on their team and while they did struggle last season, we expect them to bounce back and at the least make the playoffs in the 2026-27 season. They have one of the easiest schedules as they finished 4th in their division, making them to play fellow fourth place finishers. <\/p>

However, the Lions under their star QB Jared Goff and the rest of the squad have not gotten over the hump yet, as they haven’t reached the Super Bowl. They have come close multiple times but whether its injuries, bad luck, or postseason pressure, Super Bowl appearance is still a barrier they have yet to break. They have the personnel, right head coach, and all the chemistry in the world, which gives them a +1600 odds, giving them the 8th highest odds to win the championship, but they will need to defeat multiple teams like the Rams, reigning champs (Seahawks), and multiple other teams.<\/p>

The NFC North is one of the toughest divisions in the league, and making it out of there is still a challenge with the Bears, Vikings, and Packers improving every season. Expect them to make the playoffs, but a Super Bowl appearance is, in our opinion, unlikely. <\/p>
