Drafted as the 20th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, Smith-Njigba has taken the league by storm as the number one receiver on the Seahawks team.&nbsp;<\/p><p>The 23-year-old spent his first couple of seasons in the shadows of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, but as Seattle rebuilt its offense, Smith-Njigba has ensured that he is the new face of the team, and for that, it has taken him less than one full season.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jaxon Smith-Njigba Sets New Seahawks Receiving Record<\/h2><p>The 2025-26 <a href=\"https:\/\/theplayoffs.news\/en\/nfl\/\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>NFL season<\/a> is still a ways away from being over. We are currently in Week 12 of the regular season, with 6 more weeks of action still remaining. That said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seahawks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>Seahawks<\/a> wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba (JSN as he is fondly called) is enjoying a superb run of form coupled with his outstanding chemistry with first-year Seahawk quarterback Sam Darnold.&nbsp;<\/p><p>Through the first 11 games of the season, Smith-Njigba has 1,313 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns from 80 receptions. In context, last season, he had 100 receptions for 1,130 yards and 6 touchdowns from 17 games.&nbsp;<\/p><p>As a matter of fact, after his 167-yard performance in yesterday&rsquo;s game against the Tennessee Titans, the third-year receiver set a new Seahawks&rsquo; receiving record. This time around, Cleveland Browns&rsquo; defensive end Myles Garrett is on pace to break the 22.5 single-season sack record, while JSN is on pace to break the NFL record for the most receiving yards in a single season.&nbsp;<\/p><p>The current record is held by former Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson, who had 1,964 receiving yards from 122 receptions during the 2012-2013 season. Interestingly, the Seahawks are one of the teams that have run the ball many more times than they have thrown it this season, and despite that, Smith-Njigba has made the most of his opportunities to top the league. That means, over the next seven games, he can easily end up with over 800 receiving yards if he continues at this pace. <\/p><p>If he finishes the season in this form, Smith-Njigba is sure to shatter Calvin Johnson&rsquo;s NFL record.
