We are just one month into the NBA<\/a> 2025-26 season, and trade rumors have already taken the market by storm. Memphis Grizzlies’ star guard Ja Morant is the latest name who would most probably be on the go around 2026 trade deadline. According to the latest reports, the Grizzlies are expected to explore the trade market for the two-time All-Star. <\/p>

As per ESPN’s Tim Bontemps<\/a>, the Grizzlies plan to explore the trade market for Morant. However, the chances of finding a suitable partner doesn’t seem easy. “Given Morant hasn’t improved as a shooter<\/em>. He was an abysmal 10-for-60 from 3 before his latest calf injury<\/em>. It’s easy to see why he’s not the same player who electrified the league and appeared to have Memphis on a championship-caliber trajectory a few short years ago,”<\/em> Bontemps wrote. <\/p>

“Sources expect Memphis to explore the trade market for Morant but, like Davis, believe it will be difficult to get value for him. ‘I do think they’ll move him,’ a West scout said.”<\/em><\/p>

Notably, the rumors of fallout between the Grizzlies and Morant have been all over the place ever since the beginning of the season. Earlier this month, the franchise handed the 26-year-old a one-game suspension<\/a> following an exchange with coach Tuomas Iisalo. Not only this, but he has also expressed that playing basketball doesn’t give him the usual joy anymore. Reports suggest that Morant doesn’t have a good relationship with Iisalo, who replaced Taylor Jenkins last season. <\/p>

Statistically, Morant has appeared in 12 games for the side this season. He is averaging 17.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 7.6 assists on 35.9% shooting from the field and 16.7% from three. Currently, he has been sidelined with a groin injury. In addition, his previous on and off-court antics have always kept him in the spotlight in the league. <\/p>

ESPN Insider Suggests Ja Morant Wants to Leave Memphis Grizzlies <\/h2>

Considering how things have gone wrong between Morant and the Grizzlies, there have been talks that the player wants to leave the franchise. According to Zach Lowe of ESPN, Morant wants his way out of the franchise. “I will say with Ja — teams that are watching him, and I talked to one of them over the weeken<\/em>d. They’re throwing his current level of play into the trash. They’re saying, ‘This looks to us like a guy who wants out’,”<\/em> Lowe said. <\/p>

Notably, Morant has played just 59 games over the last two seasons for the Grizzlies due to two suspensions and multiple injuries. He is in the third year of his five-year, $197.2 million contract he signed in July 2022. Hence, he has over $86 remaining on his deal. It means that any team, who is interested in acquiring him, after overlooking his health and behavioral concerns, must be interested in making a steep long-term investment. <\/p>\n
