Shakur Stevenson recently called out this exact problem during an interview on ‘The Arena<\/strong>‘ show. When asked if Mayweather’s obsession with staying undefeated changed boxing, the WBC lightweight champion didn’t hold back. He said that everyone now wants to be undefeated and that people are scared to take real chances in their careers. Instead of fighting the best guy available, boxers would rather fight someone with bigger name recognition but less skill.<\/p>

“I feel like guys in this generation are scared to put it all on the line. People are scared to take chances. They would rather go fight a bigger notoriety fight than fight a guy that’s the best guy. So, Floyd definitely changed that when he went undefeated and talked the way he talked and did everything that he did. He changed the sport of boxing.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>
