The Australian is the Davis Cup captain for his country, as well as a former World No. 1 on the men&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/theplayoffs.news\/en\/tennis\/\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>tour<\/a>. As a player, Hewitt won 30 singles trophies and also reached the final of his home Slam in Melbourne Park. Back in 2001, he became the youngest man to stand atop the ATP rankings &ndash; at the age of 20. Having turned pro in 1998, Hewitt retired from singles competition in 2016. The now 44-year-old still remains the most recent Australian man to win a Grand Slam championship in singles.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lleyton Hewitt Sees Red for Offensive Conduct<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Australian Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt has been issued a two-week suspension by an independent tribunal following a charge of offensive conduct under the Tennis Anti-Doping Programme.<\/p>&mdash; International Tennis Integrity Agency (@itia_tennis) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/itia_tennis\/status\/1965732884943352103?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>September 10, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure><p>The incident took place in November 2024, during Australia&rsquo;s Davis Cup battle against Italy. After an intense couple of days, the European giants earned a hard-fought victory over the men from Down Under. In the heat of the moment, Hewitt was found to have pushed a 60-year-old anti-doping chaperone who was volunteering at the time. Hewitt denied the charge, pleading self-defense.<\/p><p>The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) referred the case to an independent tribunal, which upheld the initial charges of offensive conduct.
