With this, she surpassed the previous record held by Indiana Fever&rsquo;s Caitlin Clark in the last season with 337 assists. The 33-year-old scored 14 points and eight rebounds on Saturday, and is now averaging 15.9 points, 9.2 assists and 9 rebounds across 37 appearances in her first season with the Mercury.&nbsp;<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sami Whitcomb Hails Alyssa Thomas a &lsquo;Dynamic Facilitator Player&rsquo;&nbsp;<\/h2><p>As Thomas added another feather to her already illustrated resume, her teammate Sami Whitcomb heaped praise on her. Whitcomb, who finished Saturday&rsquo;s game with 13 points, one rebound and one assist, hailed Thomas a &lsquo;<em>dynamic facilitator player&rsquo; <\/em>saying that she has a big influence on their playing style. Whitcomb also talked about Thomas&rsquo; new record and said that it doesn&rsquo;t come as a surprise that she has achieved it.&nbsp;<\/p><p><em>&ldquo;She&rsquo;s a dynamic facilitator player all of that. She obviously creates a lot of fantastic looks for us,&rdquo;<\/em> the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ayabdeen\/status\/1964420513218121866\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>Mercury guard told WNBA reporter Aya Abdeen<\/a>. She added, <em>&ldquo;It&rsquo;s a big part of what how we play, the style that we play the balls in our hands a lot. We trust her to make the right pass, and it&rsquo;s our job to knock it down, and we&rsquo;re going to continue to try and do that the best that we can moving into playoffs. That&rsquo;s an incredible accomplishment, and we&rsquo;re not really surprised.&rdquo;<\/em><\/p><p>Talking about the game, the loss ended the Mercury&rsquo;s six-game winning streak and blew their hopes of claiming the second seed in the playoffs. They have two regular season games remaining, Phoenix sits fourth in the standings with a 27-15 win-loss record. They are 0.5 games behind the Las Vegas Aces and one game behind the Atlanta Dream.&nbsp;<\/p><p>In their next and last regular season home game, the Mercury will host the Los Angeles Sparks on
