The 49ers&rsquo; defense were ranked 8th in total defense and they also welcome back Robert Saleh as defensive coordinator, emphasizing aggressive plays. Both teams&rsquo; offenses face challenges with Seattle offensive line problems which could cause trouble for Sam Darnold, while 49ers&rsquo; injury-prone unit could falter early. Look for more of a defensive battle than a shootout in this contest.<\/p><p>For our second pick, Sam Darnold is likely to rush for under 9.5 yards as the new QB focuses on passing, and less on the run plays from what we saw last season. He only averaged 3.2 yards per rush attempt last season, and it&rsquo;s highly unlikely that we&rsquo;ll see a difference this season. And to add further to the problem, Seattle&rsquo;s shaky O-Line further limits his scrambling opportunities. <\/p><p>Finally for our third pick, if their star running back Christian McCaffrey plays in the first game (listed as questionable for now), Brock Purdy is likely to stay under 31.5 passing attempts. 49ers&rsquo; run-heavy offense, led by their star running back, is the biggest reason why. Not to mention Seattle&rsquo;s cornerbacks Witherspoon and Woolen who could force a conservative approach. The 49ers&rsquo; focus on clock control supports fewer passes made by Purdy in this matchup.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Seattle Seahawks vs San Francisco 49ers Preview<\/h2><p>In the 2025-26 NFL Week 1 clash at Lumen Field, the Seattle Seahawks face the San Francisco 49ers in a fierce NFC West rivalry. Seattle&rsquo;s going into the season with a lot of changes to their personnel, Sam Darnold as their QB1 instead of Geno Smith, the replacement of D.K. Metcalf with Cooper Kupp, to name a few.
