After months of trade speculations, rumors, and failed negotiations, the Packers’ decision to cut Alexander, their 1st-round pick, comes mostly from his persistent injury and a hefty cap hit, which was too much for the Packers to keep him around. The team reportedly offered a restructured contract with a pay cut, but Alexander declined, opting for free agency to seek a better deal.<\/p>
Alexander’s tenure in Green Bay was marked by elite play when healthy, but that was the whole point. He played in only 14 games in the last two seasons but was elite when he was on the field leading to pro bowl nods in 2022 and 2020. Playing in only 7 games each in the last two seasons.
