The 29-year-old admitted that while the loss was disappointing, this was the first time she played at this level in her career. <\/p><p>Earlier, whenever Townsend performed well, people would say she&rsquo;s on a run, but this time, they believed in her talent. That&rsquo;s something that stood out for Townsend. It was over three hours,&rdquo;<\/em> Townsend revealed. <em>&ldquo;And he sat there, and when I was talking to my coach when she was on the bathroom break, he was like, if you need anything, I got you just ask me. I&rsquo;m like, &lsquo;okay&rsquo;. It&rsquo;s nice to be able to have that.&rdquo;<\/em> Townsend finished with a smile on her face. Later she opened up on AJ&rsquo;s great reaction after she informed the 4-year-old that she lost.<\/p><p><em>&ldquo;I was like, &lsquo;yeah&rsquo;. He was like, &lsquo;Good job mom&rsquo;. I was like, &lsquo;Thanks&rsquo;. I was like, &lsquo;AJ I lost,&rsquo;&rdquo;<\/em> Townsend said. <em>&ldquo;He was like, &lsquo;It&rsquo;s okay&rsquo;. And I was like, &lsquo;That&rsquo;s the attitude&rsquo;. So I&rsquo;m trying to embody that.&rdquo; <\/em>That&rsquo;s certainly what Townsend is doing now. Unlike her own experience in round 2 when she faced tantrums of her opponent after her win, Townsend is being gracious.&nbsp;<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Townsend Remains Positive About Her Singles Future&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2><p>While Townsend couldn&rsquo;t qualify for her career&rsquo;s first Grand Slam quarterfinals, she remains positive about her future. <em>&ldquo;You never know what type of catalyst or catapult this match could be to propel me forward. I truly believe that this whole tournament has been a game-changer for me,&rdquo; <\/em>said Townsend. Certainly, this was her career&rsquo;s best Grand Slam run since 2019. Her usually risky runs to the nets became more calculated. More importantly, even at this loss, it was Townsend who was the dominant player. She led in 13 of the 14 stats. That&rsquo;s an extremely positive sign for a player who has been forced to essentially start from scratch due to injuries and childbirth. Still, Townsend&rsquo;s US Open isn&rsquo;t over &ndash; she&rsquo;s still in the doubles tournament.
