You may feel that it is because of their NFL history, or because of their superstar players, or even because of their widespread popularity across the country.&nbsp;<\/p><p>While all of the above is true to a certain extent, the reason behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/theplayoffs.news\/en\/nfl\/\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>Cowboys&rsquo;<\/a> consistent presence in the media even in the offseason has to do with one man and one man only: franchise owner Jerry Jones. And the longtime serving owner just publicly admitted to the same during his recent run-in with the media.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jerry Jones Says the Cowboys Are a Soap Opera 365 Days a Year<\/h2><p>Owner Jerry Jones was present for Netflix&rsquo;s Dallas Cowboys docuseries, <em>&lsquo;America&rsquo;s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys,&rsquo;<\/em> where he met with the media, telling them outrightly that it&rsquo;s good to be looked at all the time and that controversy is always good to retain people&rsquo;s attention.&nbsp;<\/p><p><em>&ldquo;I do believe if we&rsquo;re not being looked at, then I&rsquo;ll do my part to get us looked at. The Cowboys are a soap opera 365 days a year.&rdquo; <\/em>Said Jones.<em> &ldquo;When it gets slow, I&rsquo;ll stir it up. It&rsquo;s wonderful to have the great athletes have the great players, but there&rsquo;s something more there. There&rsquo;s sizzle, there&rsquo;s emotion, and if you will, there&rsquo;s controversy. As analysts on ESPN&rsquo;s <em>&lsquo;First Take&rsquo;<\/em> debated over the controversial statement, former Cowboy, Marcus Spears, presented two sides to the argument when he was asked if Jones&rsquo; approach bothers him.&nbsp;<\/p><p><em>&ldquo;It bothers me. It bothered me when I first started talking about the Cowboys. It bothered me when I played and we talked about it as players.&rdquo;<\/em> Said Spears before continuing. <em>&ldquo;Things matter. This translates to winning. It affects what actually happens on the field during the season in games.&rdquo;<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p><p>Spears then went on to add that Jones made the Cowboys what they are, and nobody can take that away from him. Smith was less forgiving, and not only did he slam Jones, but he also attributed much of the blame to Cowboys fans for allowing Jones to get away with such behavior.&nbsp;<\/p><p><em>&ldquo;Jerry Jones is about popularity. Jerry Jones is about the sizzle. Jerry Jones is about the allure, the headlines, the attention, etc. Perhaps if you didn&rsquo;t give it to him, if your silly fans didn&rsquo;t go out there and pack Jerry World every game. Perhaps if you didn&rsquo;t buy all of Cowboys&rsquo; paraphernalia.&rdquo;<\/em><\/p><p>Smith continued to mock Jones by claiming that he is running a business and not the one playing on the field, so as far as Jones is concerned, he&rsquo;s done his job.<\/p><p><em>&ldquo;See, he ain&rsquo;t on the football field playing. He ain&rsquo;t throw that interception. He ain&rsquo;t missed that tackle. He ain&rsquo;t he didn&rsquo;t miss he didn&rsquo;t fail to get that sack. You understand what I&rsquo;m saying? He didn&rsquo;t do all of that. He assembled the crew.
