The Cincinnati Bengals finished 9-8 last season, which was only the 8th best in the AFC. Their quarterback, Joe Burrow, had an MVP-caliber last season and finished fourth in the AP-MVP award rankings. Ja’Marr Chase also played out of his mind last season and had his best statistical season so far. Trey Hendrickson had 17.5 sacks and even with all that firepower, they still could not win games at the start of the season. The team has a whole bunch of problems and one of the biggest, is their O-line and defense. The Bengals’ defense was ranked 25th last season and while their Offensive line was ranked 9th amongst other teams, that does not give the full picture as Burrow was sacked 48 times in 2024 which was his second-worst of his career.<\/p>
The Bengals missed the playoffs completely last season and they barely were above .500. It seems like a slow start is a recurring theme for this Bengals team as they started the season 0-3 and were 4-8 after 12 games. <\/p>
Something needs to change for the Bengals and soon. When you have an elite quarterback and some great pieces around you, there is no reason why they cannot make the playoffs every season. Zac Taylor needs to instill some urgency for the Bengals as their slow starts are killing their chances every season.<\/p>
