World number 1, Jannik Sinner, makes his much-awaited return to the courts at the Italian Open<\/a> following his three-month ban after the Australian Open earlier this year. After testing positive for small traces of clostebol twice at Indian Wells in 2024, the Italian settled for a 3-month ban almost a year later. <\/p>

Sinner now gets ready to make his return in front of his home crowd at the Italian Open in Rome, which is the ideal place for him to ease his way back into the professional world of tennis. The support of the home crowd will no doubt provide a big boost for his quest to pick up where he left off following his performance at this year’s first Grand Slam down under.<\/p>

Having said that, Sinner<\/a> has made his official return to the tour as he began his practice sessions ahead of his opening match schedule for Friday, 9th May. Recent Barcelona Open winner Holger Rune practiced with Sinner and had some encouraging words on how the Italian looked on court after missing out on all the action these past three months. <\/p>

Holger Rune on Sinner’s Form Upon Return<\/h2>

The Norwegian held a practice session with Sinner at Monte Carlo, a day before the latter’s return in Rome. Rune was left impressed with how the Italian looked, and he feels that Sinner has not missed a beat upon his return. <\/p>

He looks exactly how we are accustomed to seeing him, and even though it will take some time for the world number one to find his feet, he should be playing at a high level within no time.    <\/p>

“He’s always the same Sinner. He hits the ball incredibly, as he’s accustomed us to seeing. I had a lot of fun training with him. Coming back after three months is not the easiest thing, obviously, it will take him a little time, but I think he can still do very well.”<\/strong><\/p>
