It has been a season of heartbreak for Southampton, Leicester City, and Ipswich Town. All three clubs who were promoted at the end of last season suffered relegation after just one campaign back in the top flight.&nbsp;<\/p><p>This season marks only the third time in English top-flight history, and the first in the Premier League era, that all three promoted teams have been relegated in the same campaign. Southampton, Leicester, and Ipswich &ndash; all were promoted to the Premier League at the start of this season.&nbsp;<\/p><p>They will now see their way back to the Championship. Their relegation was confirmed with seven matches still left to be played. Their fate was sealed on April 6 after they lost 3&ndash;1 defeat to Tottenham. This set a new Premier League record for the earliest confirmed drop since the league&rsquo;s inception.&nbsp;<\/p><p>Needless to say, the Saints had a turbulent campaign. They went through a managerial instability as Russell Martin was dismissed in December. It was followed by the departure of Ivan Juric in April. Simon Rusk was named interim coach for the final weeks of the season. Despite a promising squad, the Foxes couldn&rsquo;t escape the drop zone.
