The NBA All-Star game was one of the most awaited events that the entire world waited for in the beginning. However, in the recent times, the All-Star game has caught a lot of flak. This is particularly because, the fans, especially, feel that the efforts that are given in the All-Star game has decreased every single year. Back in the 90’s or the 2000’s, legends of the NBA like Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Shaq, and many others would compete in the All-Star game like it’s a game 7 of a playoff series. If you go back and watch the highlights, you could clearly see that every single player that was named to the All-Star game, played like they had something to prove. Not just in the offensive side of the court, but also on the defensive side. <\/p>
The modern All-Star game is extremely entertaining when you look at the offense, where teams are crossing over 160-170 points every time. But the problem, so to say, is not with the offensive effort, it’s the defense that has taken a hit. Players show little to zero effort, when it comes to stopping the player from converting a bucket, and it’s gotten to a point where we have seen stars like Steph Curry, literally, sleep on the floor when Giannis came in to drive and dunk the ball, in the recent All-Star game. <\/p>
So to combat the laziness by the players, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver had to step in and try to make some changes. At first he switched the format to players with the highest voting being named the captain of two teams and picking the players from the All-Star pool. Then Silver had to change the format again, this year, to bring in more viewership, but even that failed miserably. Now there’s another idea that Silver may want to implement in the 2026 All-Star game. Let’s take a closer look at what that is.<\/p>
