Now that, Cadillac will be competing in Formula 1 from the 2026 season, GM has other issues to attend to. The inital plans for General Motors was to power Andretti Autosport. Although, these plans did not work in their favor, General Motors still got the approval to join Formula 1 with Cadillac. General Motors still does not have the research or the technology necessary to provide power units in Formula 1. Thus, they will have to rely on Ferrari to power their cars for the upcoming F1 season.<\/p><p>The American giant has taken positive step forward with their latest development in the F1 championship. The past week was an important one for the new power unit manufactuer.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">GM Power Units To Join Formula 1 Grid from 2029<\/h2><p>TWG Motorsports and General Motors have joined hands to work together and build power units in Formula 1. The recent news is exciting for both fans and the F1 paddock. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.formula1.com\/en\/latest\/article\/gm-performance-power-units-approved-as-f1-power-unit-supplier.5twHKYOWujAHaAFq2q79Zf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>Formula 1 and FIA have granted approval<\/a> to GM Performance Power Units LLC to join the grid from the 2029 season. This means that, their daughter team- Cadillac F1, won&rsquo;t have to wait indefinitely to run their own power units.<\/p><p>Even though, the team and manufacturers are based in USA. They have setup their office in Silverstone to spearhead the operations for their F1 programme.
