There were a few standout players in this draft class, and two of them, defensive end <a href=\"https:\/\/theplayoffs.news\/en\/abdul-carters-parents-all-about-the-parents-of-the-penn-state-defensive-end-abdul-carter\/\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>Abdul Carter<\/a> and two-way player Travis Hunter, were the pick of the litter.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 1 Surprise Picks&nbsp;<\/h2><p>Almost immediately, right off the bat, the 2025 NFL draft saw its first and what would be the biggest move of the day. The Tennessee Titans made their pick, going with quarterback Cam Ward, which was more or less a guarantee by that point in time. However, following that came a trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars, who moved up four spots to claim the number 2 overall pick.&nbsp;<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jaguars Trade Up for a Possible Two-for-One Situation<\/h3><p>In a move that came out of left field, the Jaguars traded up to the number 2 spot, sending the Cleveland Browns to their number 5. With the second overall pick, Jacksonville snagged the wide receiver\/cornerback talent Travis Hunter.&nbsp;<\/p><p>What was even more surprising about this move is that during the draft interview, Hunter mentioned he hadn&rsquo;t spoken with anyone from the team management after the Combine. Although the Bucs roster is quite well balanced, they could have used their first-round pick to bolster the defense with an edge rusher or a linebacker.&nbsp;<\/p><p>All in all, the first round of the draft didn&rsquo;t spring too many surprises with teams selecting more or less according to their primary needs.
