Before even seeing a pitch, Kwan called time and pulled a pink wristband from his pocket, sliding it onto his left arm. A gender reveal for teammate David Fry and his wife Rebekah.<\/p><p>Miles away, teammate David Fry and his wife Rebekah got the message: Baby #2 is a girl.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Steven Kwan called time last night and put on a pink wristband to reveal the gender of the baby that David Fry and his wife are expecting. &#129392;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/GuardsBall?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>#GuardsBall<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rYYX79Ziex\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>pic.twitter.com\/rYYX79Ziex<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Cleveland Guardians (@CleGuardians) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CleGuardians\/status\/1915042981704593782?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'>April 23, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure><p><em>&ldquo;I was like, &lsquo;Hell yeah, I think that&rsquo;d be super cool,'&rdquo;<\/em> Kwan said about participating in the reveal. <em>&ldquo;Anything to involve David, because he&rsquo;s obviously going through some rehab stuff, and we wish he was here.&rdquo;<\/em><\/p><p>The Guardians went on to win the game 3-2. The idea came from a conversation between Rebekah Fry and Samantha Kwan, who are close friends. With the Frys expecting their second child. They already have a 2-year-old daughter named Evelyn. Samantha suggested her husband could help with a gender reveal during a game. David Fry is still going through rehab, after undergoing elbow surgery in November 2024.<\/p><p><em>&ldquo;Just to be able to involve him [was important]. I know that every day the monotony of rehab is so brutal,&rdquo;<\/em> Kwan explained. <em>&ldquo;I know he watches every single game. So I thought it was a cool way to involve him.&rdquo;<\/em><\/p><p>Kwan and Samantha kept the baby&rsquo;s gender secret until game time, when home-plate umpire Vic Carapazza granted the unusual pre-pitch timeout request.
