From deciding not to draft Michael Jordan, to the 1992 NBA finals loss against the Bulls, or losing Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks, there always seems to be something that sets the franchise back. In the 2010s, the Blazers were always a contender in the West, thanks to outstanding plays from their former backcourts Lillard, and CJ McCollum. Even though the two could not deliver a championship together, we&rsquo;ve seen the Blazers put some of the best highlight reel performances in the playoffs, when the stakes are the highest. Lillard&rsquo;s buzzer-beater from half court to send OKC home in the 2018-2019 playoffs, to Lillard&rsquo;s buzzer-beater against the Houston Rockets to send them home in the 2013-14 season. Many of us NBA fans wanted to see the Blazers play when the postseason came around.<\/p><p>Now that the Blazers have moved on from Lillard and McCollum, the Trail Blazers have been rebuilding their team in the last few years. While many teams across the NBA have taken years to rebuild, Blazers have already taken significant strides and have added various players to help them win more games. So far, the exact terms of the deal has not been disclosed and we are still waiting on further reports.<\/p><p>Billups has had a .550 winning percentage since January 19 and also helped the Blazers rank as top five in defense during that span. In his four-year stint with the Trail Blazers so far, Billups has led the franchise to a 116-211 record, and while that not be the best record you may have heard of, he&rsquo;s still a great coach and here&rsquo;s the reason why.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups has agreed to a multiyear contract extension, sources tell ESPN. The Blazers drafted Scoot Henderson as one of the top 3 picks from the 2023 NBA draft. The Blazers have also acquired players such as DeAndre Ayton, Matisse Thybulle, Robert Williams III, and various others to help them on the defensive end.<\/p><p>They also have Anfernee Simons, and while he&rsquo;s still dealing with inconsistencies, he&rsquo;s still one of the best scoring guards in the NBA. The Blazers have not played a single playoff game so far in the Western Conference under Billups&rsquo; head coaching tenure. However, the 2024-2025 season was the best year for the Blazers since 2020-21.
