As the countdown for the 2025 NFL<\/a> draft begins, the draft buzz hits a new high every passing day. Top college players are making their way across the country meeting with various teams as both sides get a feel for one another. Nevertheless, the process is about to come to an end, and in no more than 2 weeks, we will come to know which players go to which franchise. <\/p>

This year, even after the NFL Combine, there were quite a few teams in the hunt for a starting-level quarterback. However, some of those such as the Giants and the Raiders<\/a> made their moves and have gone ahead with veteran presence. While New York signed both Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, Vegas went with Geno Smith, but there are still a few teams in need of a quarterback. The Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are three teams that have a pressing need under center. <\/p>

Top 6 QB Prospects at the 2025 NFL Draft <\/h2>

Here, we take a look at the top 6 quarterbacks in this year’s draft class. Apart from Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, judging where most of the remaining signal callers land is quite difficult. <\/p>

1. Cam Ward – Miami Hurricanes<\/h3>

    Starting things off we have Cam Ward who played his college football at the University of Miami after playing for Incarnate Word and Washington State earlier. Ward is seen as the consensus number one overall pick for this year’s draft with the Tennessee Titans holding that spot as things stand at the moment. <\/p>

    Ward’s five years of collegiate football have turned him into a top talent and his final season with the Hurricanes last year was a testament to his growth. Leading Miami to a 10-3 record with 4,313 passing yards, 39 touchdowns, and just 7 interceptions, Ward finished the season as the ACC Player of the Year. <\/p>

    2. Shedeur Sanders – Colorado Buffaloes<\/h3>

    1. \n<\/ol>

      The jury is still out on where exactly Sanders will land in the draft. Although he is widely recognized as being the second-best signal caller in the draft this year, there are still doubts in the minds of many with regard to his abilities at the NFL level. Having said that, Sanders did have a similar year to that of Ward production-wise as he led the Buffaloes to a 9-4 record with 4,134 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. <\/p>

      Sanders is considered to be more of a pocket passer and has a tendency to take sacks due to lack of mobility. The Browns who are sitting on the number two overall pick are in dire need of a new quarterback. Whether they take Sanders or go in a different direction, only time will tell. <\/p>

      3. Jaxson Dart – Ole Miss Rebels<\/h3>

      1. \n<\/ol>

        After Ward and Sanders, Rebels’ QB Jaxson Dart seems to be the next-best quarterback prospect this year. Dart played his freshman year as a backup at USC before transferring to Ole Miss in 2022. As a starter, he compiled a 28-10 record in three years at Ole Miss throwing for over 10,000 yards, and 70 plus touchdowns against just 22 interceptions. <\/p>

        Dart has good arm strength and is able to get the ball out quickly. He throws a catchable ball over 80% of the time and has the ability to stretch the field vertically. While he didn’t exactly run the show per se at Ole Miss, Dart is still a decent option in the first round, but it won’t be a surprise if he falls to day 2. <\/p>

        4. Jalen Milroe – Alabama Crimson Tide<\/h3>

        1. \n<\/ol>

          Jalen Milroe has made significant progress up the rankings of late. He had impressive visits with the Browns and the Saints and surprisingly also received an invite to the draft which just goes to show how much his draft stock has risen. <\/p>

          The Alabama quarterback played his entire career for the Crimson Tide where he was a backup to Bryce Young for the first two years. Taking over starting duties as a junior, Milroe put together a 20-6 record in his last 2 seasons. Still, his 2024 numbers are nothing to speak of as he threw for only 2,844 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. <\/p>

          Milroe however is a dynamic quarterback with dual-threat abilities evidenced by the fact he ran for 726 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground last season. Based on the fact that he has impressed some teams with his visits, he could be a surprise round 1 pick, but ideally, he should drop down to day 2. <\/p>

          5. Tyler Shough – Louisville Cardinals<\/h3>

          1. \n<\/ol>

            Tyler Shough has played for three schools, Oregon Ducks, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and the Louisville Cardinals during his 7-year collegiate career. He redshirted his first couple of seasons in Oregon as a backup to the Chargers’ Justin Herbert, finally receiving the chance to start in 2020. <\/p>

            Shough had a decent 2024 season leading the Cardinals to an 8-4 record with 3,195 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. He is another pocket passer who distributes the ball well and is comfortable both under center as well as from the shotgun. His ability to battle through injuries and keep going has impressed plenty of scouts. Ideally, though, Shough should be a late third or early fourth-round pick.<\/p>

            6. Kyle McCord – Syracuse Orange<\/h3>
              \n
            1. \n<\/ol>

              McCord started his college career at Ohio State where he played for three seasons before transferring to Syracuse in 2024. He spent the first couple of seasons as the backup to C.J. Stroud. Over his final 2 years of collegiate football, McCord compiled a 21-4 record. In 2024, McCord threw for 4,779 yards, 34 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He has impressed scouts in general with his throwing sessions during the pre-draft process. However, the Syracuse alum could be another late third-round or early fourth-round selection. <\/p>
