Last season, we all knew who the ROTY was going to go to, and even though Chet Holmgren came close, Victor Wembanyama showed his true potential after the All-Star break and sealed the ROTY award. Meanwhile, this year&rsquo;s rookie class has delivered a mix of surprises and steady performers, which has kept the fans and analysts guessing about who will claim the coveted award. Stephon Castle<\/h3><p>The Spurs are still in the rebuilding stage despite acquiring De&rsquo;Aaron Fox and having Victor Wembanyama. There are other key players in the organization who has contributed to winning such as Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan, Keldon Johnson, and they also have some veteran players who bring in their leadership with Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes. While it&rsquo;s clear that he has a lot to work on, the Spurs might have found one of their core pieces for the future.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Jaylen Wells<\/h3><p>Wells, a forward, is currently averaging 10.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. He shooting 42.6 percent from the field, and 35.5 percent from the three-point arc. He has started for 73 games in the NBA and has played a total of 78 games. With the responsibility of starting for a playoff bound team like the Memphis Grizzlies, we say that he been doing quite well playing for the Grizzlies, and should be a consideration in the Rookie of the Year race.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Zaccharie Risacher<\/h3><p>The number one pick of the 2024 NBA draft, has been playing well for the Hawks this season, averaging 12.4 points, 1.3 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and is currently shooting 34.6 percent from beyond the arc and 44.9 percent from the field. He started for 69 games for the Hawks so far and when you take a look at the field goal attempts per game at 10.4, he&rsquo;s nearly making half of those shots at 4.7 makes per game. Alex Sarr<\/h3><p>Alex Sarr was drafted by the Washington Wizards as the number 2. overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft, and has been one of the bright spots for the Wizards who are currently 17-61 in the 2024-25 season, the worst in the East. Sarr is averaging 13.0 points, 1.5 blocks, 2.3 assists, and 6.5 rebounds per game. While his shooting percentages aren&rsquo;t efficient with 39.6 percent from the field and 31.5 percent from three-point range, we believe that he will become significantly better in the upcoming seasons and his presence as a rim protector for the Wizards, has been something to keep a close eye on.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Zach Edey<\/h3><p>The Grizzlies were in need of a center this season and Zach Edey, who was the 9th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft, has done exactly the Grizzlies expected him to do. He has started for 52 games this season, while playing a total of 63 games, and has averaged 9.2 points, 1.3 blocks, 8.0 rebounds, while shooting 57.5 percent from the floor, and 36.0 percent from deep. He&rsquo;s given the Grizzlies a little bit of everything including being a rim protector with his length and size, scoring, a lob threat, rebounding, and also toughness. Edey is not somebody who gets intimidated and we have seen him confront multiple players this season.
