Tom Aspinall has been very vocal about his desire to take on Jon Jones for the heavyweight belt. Aspinall is currently the interim champ of the heavyweight division and has remained as the interim champ for more than a year. In fact, in what was a very odd situation, Aspinall had to even defend the interim belt against Curtis Blaydes back in July of 2024. When was the last time that you heard of a interim belt being defended in the UFC? <\/p>

Every division in the UFC <\/a>seems to have it’s fair share of drama. Whether it’s welterweight, lightweight, heavyweight, there always seems to be a something unusual going on. In the heavyweight division, Jon Jones is the champion but Aspinall has been asking, begging in some instances, for a title shot at the real thing and is tired of holding the interim belt. <\/p>

Aspinall knocked out Pavlovich in November of 2023 and so far all he’s been able to do is go on various podcasts or post on social media about his frustration with the heavyweight champ not showing any interest in fighting him and delaying the inevitable. Jones wants “that f*ck you money,”<\/em><\/strong> and Aspinall wants to take the belt away from the heavyweight legend. So why all the wait?<\/p>
