Christian McCaffrey is nearing a return to the field as his rehab progresses as expected. Despite a 4-4 record this season, the 49ers are not rushing their star running back’s return.<\/p>

The franchise announced that McCaffrey will remain in California to take advantage of the bye week, focusing on recovery for his bilateral Achilles tendinitis.<\/p>

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan shared some encouraging news about McCaffrey’s recovery yesterday:<\/p>

“We hope it does go that way,” coach Kyle Shanahan told KNBR on Tuesday, via 49erswebzone.com. “It’s been trending that way<\/a>, and it’s been ever since we shut him down and gone through these real slow steps. It’s getting there. He hasn’t had a setback, and hopefully, he has a real good week, and we can get him into practice next week, which obviously would be huge for us.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

The plan is for McCaffrey to return to practice next week, with a target to rejoin the lineup in Week 10 for the road game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.<\/p>

Since joining the San Francisco 49ers, Christian McCaffrey has been a powerhouse, making a strong case for MVP consideration in 2023.<\/p>

He set a 49ers record with touchdowns in 13 consecutive games, underscoring his consistency and impact on the offense.<\/p>

By mid-season 2023, McCaffrey had already accumulated 1,292 rushing yards and 509 receiving yards, becoming only the fourth NFL<\/a> player to achieve at least four seasons with over 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards.<\/p>

In 2023, McCaffrey has shown remarkable versatility, averaging 5.4 yards per carry and 91.2 rushing yards per game, along with 14 rushing touchdowns. Additionally, he has made a significant impact in the passing game, amassing 564 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns.<\/p>

McCaffrey has not yet played this season, having been placed on injured reserve on September 14.<\/p>
