The Dallas Mavericks have assigned their star forward Anthony Davis to the NBA G-League side, the Texas Legends. Davis is with the club to get some five-on-five work done as he aims to return to the court following an injury hiatus. <\/p>

According to Brett Siegel<\/a>, “The Mavericks have assigned Anthony Davis to the Texas Legends in the NBA G League as he continues to rehab from an adductor strain.”<\/em><\/p>

There were rumors that Davis has decided to end the season early to focus more on health. However, Siegel quashed all the rumors stating that he former Laker star is looking forward to his return. “Davis wants to return to the court this season. Dallas doesn’t appear ready to shut him and others down amid their fall in the West<\/em>,” Siegel added.<\/p>

It’s been over a month since Davis is out of action for over a month now with an adductor injury that he sustained during his debut game<\/a> with the Mavericks. Notably, Davis was involved in the blockbuster deal that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers while he headed to the Mavericks. <\/p>

He debuted for the new side during the 116-105 win over the Houston Rockets on February 8. He scored 26 points, 16 rebounds and had seven assists. However, an adductor injury forced him to stay out of action since then. The ten-time NBA All-Star showed speedy recovery and was seen taking part in the pre-game workouts. <\/p>

He was expected to undergo a re-evaluation, which would have determined his possible return date. However, there was no update regarding it. It was no later that the reports of him possibly being done for the season started circulating. The speculations came after his teammate Kyrie Irving sustained a season-ending injury. <\/p>

When Is Anthony Davis Expected To Return?<\/h2>

While there is no set date for his return to the NBA, the franchise’s move indicates that he is in the final stages of his rehabilitation and is set to take on the courts. He will be expected to participate in four-on-four and five-on-five drills this week. <\/p>

The Mavericks, who are in the 10th position in the Western Conference, have a 33-36 record. With nine players on the injury report, the Mavericks have lost eight of their last ten games. Needless to say, they are in a dire need of Davis, who could help them improve their playoff position. <\/p>

Considering the current scenario, the 31-year-old could potentially step up on the courts in the last week of March.<\/p>\n
