Dallas Mavericks star Klay Thompson has kept his spirits high despite a rocky season for the franchise. The Mavericks, who have been going through a tough season with the slew of injuries of their key players, finally managed to put an end to their five-game losing streak. <\/p>

The Mavericks took down the San Antonio Spurs 133-129, and the win surely helped the players boost their morale during struggling times. Following the win, Thompson spoke about the future of the franchise and said that he still has his belief in the side. <\/p>

“We still have big goals; we still want to make a run. The injuries have been awful, but I still love our team. I still believe in this franchise. I’m here for two more seasons after this, so I’d love to help them return to the glory that they were brought to in 2011,” <\/em>said Thompson. <\/p>

Thompson joined the Mavericks in the summer after spending 13 years with the Golden State Warriors. When he moved to Dallas, there were a lot of talks about how he along with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic will take the franchise to the championship level, just like in 2011. <\/p>

However, things started going another way from the franchise when they traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a>. Not only this, but their dreams blew when Davis sustained an adductor injury in his debut game and Kyrie Irving sustained a season-ending injury<\/a>. <\/p>

However, despite the odds, Thompson seems optimistic for the side, contrary to what his father, Mychal Thompson, believes<\/a>. <\/p>

In their first win in six games, Klay Thompson scored 26 points, two rebounds and three assists. He shot 8-14 from the field and 3-8 from the three-point range. Kessler Edwards, on the other hand, chipped in 22 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. <\/p>

“I’m not worried about him, because I’ve seen his work”- Klay Thompson on Kyrie Irving’s injury<\/h2>

Kyrie Irving shouldered the scoring responsibility and came up with several key performances in their post-Doncic era. Unfortunately, Irving sustained an ACL injury during the Kings game and has been sidelined for the rest of the season. <\/p>

Recently, Thompson opened up on the star guard’s injury and said that he was hurt. “It hurt, obviously with Kyrie being out for 10-12 months<\/em>,” Thompson said<\/p>

However, he added that Irving is going to come back stronger and he is not worried about him. “We know he’s going to come back stronger. Or if not, at the same level he was playing… I’m not worried about him, because I’ve seen his work first hand and it’s some of the best I’ve ever seen,” <\/em>Thompson added. <\/p>

Notably, Thompson is averaging 14.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this season. He will be back in action in the re-match against the Spurs on Wednesday, March 12. <\/p>\n
