Milwaukee Bucks center Meyers Leonard announced his retirement from professional basketball on Sunday night. Leonard last played for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2022-23 where he made nine appearances for the side. <\/p>
In his stint with the Bucks, Meyers averaged 4.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game. Before that, he spent two seasons with the Heat and made it to the NBA Finals in 2020. While Meyers appeared in 51 games in 2019-2020, he managed to be a part of only three games in the second season with the Heat. <\/p>
The 33-year-old took to social media to announce his decision to call time on his decade-long career. He thanked his fans and well wishers for their support throughout the journey. <\/p>
Meyers, in a series of tweets, wrote, “I knew after the Milwaukee season that I couldn’t play basketball anymore. It was the hardest decision I never had to make—because my body made it for me. At first, I wasn’t planning to say anything. I figured people would assume as time passed.” <\/em><\/p> “But what I’ve come to realize is that while my body told me to hang it up, my heart wasn’t ready. Learning to sing and songwrite has given me a chance to reflect on everything basketball has given me—and how every goodbye has led to something good.”<\/em><\/p> Reflecting on the beginning of his career, Meyers tweeted, “Leaving my small hometown to play for the University of Illinois led to meeting the love of my life. Leaving college early for the NBA gave me the opportunity to take care of my entire family.”<\/em><\/p>
