But his <strong>defensive resume still holds weight<\/strong>, even if it&rsquo;s starting to fade.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Brandon Staley&rsquo;s Los Angeles Chargers collapse: A head coach who lost the locker room and his job<\/strong><\/h2><p>This move is risky. <strong>Brandon Staley&rsquo;s tenure as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers was a disaster<\/strong>. The team never found consistency, his defense was never elite, and his biggest moment? A <strong>63-21 humiliation against the Las Vegas Raiders<\/strong>&mdash;one of the worst losses in franchise history. <strong>The next morning, he was fired<\/strong>.<\/p><p>His record? <strong>24-24 across three seasons<\/strong>. He made the <strong>playoffs once<\/strong>, in <strong>2022<\/strong>, and somehow lost a <strong>27-0 lead against the Jacksonville Jaguars<\/strong> in one of the worst postseason collapses ever.<\/p><p>Now, he&rsquo;s reuniting with <strong>Kellen Moore<\/strong>, who was his <strong>offensive coordinator in 2023<\/strong>. That partnership didn&rsquo;t exactly work in LA, with the Chargers finishing <strong>5-12<\/strong>. Yet, Moore is rolling the dice again, handing Staley the keys to a Saints defense that <strong>ranked 19th in points allowed<\/strong> and <strong>30th in total yards allowed last season<\/strong>.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>New Orleans Saints defensive problems: Brandon Staley has talent, but cap space is a nightmare<\/strong><\/h2><p>The <strong>New Orleans Saints defense is a mess<\/strong>. Last season, they were <strong>bottom-five in yards allowed<\/strong> and couldn&rsquo;t stop much of anything. The <strong>one bright spot? Talent<\/strong>. <strong>Cameron Jordan, Demario Davis, Carl Granderson, and rookie Kool-Aid McKinstry<\/strong> give Staley a strong core to work with.<\/p><p>But here&rsquo;s the real problem: <strong>the Saints are $54.1 million over the salary cap<\/strong>.
