Stephen Curry is known as the ‘3-point King’. So when he casually sinks a 3-pointer from half-court, it’s hardly a shock to fans, players, or pundits. But there is one particular shot that will be talked about for decades to come, the shot dubbed his “Golden Dagger.” It came during the Paris Olympics 2024 in a thrilling gold medal match against France.<\/p>
Curry was on fire that game, hitting eight 3-pointers, with four of them coming in the final three minutes. His clutch shooting helped secure the gold medal for Team USA, but one shot, in particular, became legendary.<\/p>
With under a minute remaining in the game, Curry passed the ball to Kevin Durant, who passed it back to him. As the point guard sized up the defense, both Evan Fournier and Nicolas Batum closed in, trying to block the attempt. But despite their efforts, Curry released the ball, and it swished through the net, giving Team USA a 96-87 lead with just over 30 seconds left on the clock.<\/p>
In a preview clip for Netflix’s upcoming documentary Court of Gold, Nicolas Batum, who was on the receiving end of Curry’s dagger, admitted that there was only one player who could have made that shot: Curry himself.<\/p>
“99.99999% of the players in the world would have missed that shot. Only one guy could have made it. Him,”<\/em> Batum said.<\/p>
