On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced their starting pitchers for the first two games of the highly anticipated MLB<\/a> World Series opener against the New York Yankees. <\/p>

Right-handed pitcher Jack Flaherty will take the mound in the World Series opener. Meanwhile, Yoshinobu Yamamoto will be the starting pitcher for Game 2.<\/p>

Flaherty’s postseason performance was a mixed bag, he displayed flashes of brilliance. He finished with a 7.02 ERA in his three starts against the Mets. His most notable performance was in the opening game of the National League Championship Series, where Flaherty pitched a masterful seven-inning shutout, the longest Dodgers postseason start since 2021<\/a>.<\/p>

Meanwhile, Yamamoto finished his postseason with a 5.11 ERA. Despite a rocky start in Game 1 of the NLDS, where the Padres tagged him for five runs, he has since emerged as the Dodgers’ top pitcher. In Game 5 of the NLDS, he delivered five scoreless innings to help eliminate San Diego. Then, in Game 4 of the NLCS, he struck out eight batters over 4⅓ innings against the Mets.<\/p>

“Jack’s been really good for us, that last start withstanding,”<\/em> Dave Roberts said. “Yamamoto will start Game 2. I think if you’re looking at kind of both those pitchers and what the potential World Series could look like, just giving both those guys the best opportunity to participate, to pitch, and put them in the best spots possible, as far as days of rest and things like that”<\/em>, the Dodgers manager added. <\/p>

The first game of the World Series is set for Friday, October 25th, at Dodger Stadium. With Flaherty taking the mound, the Dodgers hope to get off to a strong start in their quest for the World Series title. <\/p>
