According to <a href=\"https:\/\/theplayoffs.news\/noticias\/mlb\/bo-bichette-jogara-pelo-brasil-caso-avance-no-qualificatorio-do-wbc\/\" class=\"trk-cta-link\" data-cta-trk='{\"ctaType\":\"Link\",\"ctaSubType\":\"main\"}'><em>The Playoffs<\/em> in Brazil<\/a>, the <strong>Toronto Blue Jays&rsquo; shortstop<\/strong> has opted out of participating in this phase of the competition.<\/p><p>Nonetheless, <strong>if Brazil qualifies<\/strong>, Bichette will <strong>join the team<\/strong> for the main tournament.<\/p><p>The qualifiers will take place in <strong>Tucson, Arizona (USA)<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Brazil will kick off its campaign against <strong>Colombia on March 2<\/strong> at the <strong>Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium<\/strong>. In addition to Colombia, the Brazilian squad will compete in a group that also includes <strong>Germany and China<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Two teams will secure a spot in the <strong>WBC<\/strong>: the <strong>first-place team will qualify directly<\/strong>, while the <strong>second-place team<\/strong> will enter a play-in game between the <strong>second and third-best teams<\/strong> of the tournament.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A 28-Player Roster for Brazil<\/strong><\/h2><p>Head coach <strong>Yuichi Matsumoto<\/strong> has called up <strong>28 players<\/strong> for the qualifiers. Alongside <strong>Vladimir Guerrero Jr.<\/strong>, he has become a key figure for the Canadian franchise.<\/p><p>The shortstop has been a <strong>two-time All-Star (2021 and 2023)<\/strong> and has consistently been in the running for the <strong>American League MVP<\/strong>, finishing <strong>in the Top 16 three times<\/strong>.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Brazil&rsquo;s WBC History<\/strong><\/h2><p>Brazil is aiming for its <strong>second-ever participation in the World Baseball Classic<\/strong>. The country&rsquo;s only appearance came in <strong>2013<\/strong>, when the team successfully <strong>defeated Panama twice in the qualifiers<\/strong> to reach the tournament&rsquo;s main stage, where they faced <strong>Japan and Cuba<\/strong>.<\/p><p>In <strong>2017<\/strong>, Brazil failed to qualify, and in <strong>2023<\/strong>, despite winning its first two games, the team was <strong>eliminated after a decisive loss to Nicaragua<\/strong>.<\/p><p>However, Brazilian baseball has been making steady progress.<\/p><p>The <strong>reigning South American champions<\/strong>, Brazil also had its <strong>best-ever performance at the Pan American Games<\/strong>, <strong>winning the silver medal<\/strong> at <strong>Santiago 2023<\/strong> after losing the final to <strong>Colombia<\/strong>.<\/p><p><\/p><p>Credit Photo : John E.
