The San Francisco 49ers’ Week 8 went from bad to worse as wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk sustained a potentially season-ending knee injury during the team’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.<\/p>

Coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed the fans’ worst fears after the loss to the Chiefs, announcing that the initial assessment indicates Brandon Aiyuk has suffered an ACL tear. <\/p>

Aiyuk will undergo an MRI on Monday. <\/p>

“That’s what it looks like, but we don’t know for sure”,<\/em> Shanahan said, via 49erswebzone.com.<\/p>

“Just doing the test and everything with our hands, and with the trainers and stuff, all that. That’s what we fear. That’s what it looks like, but we’ve been wrong before, so we’re praying that we are”<\/em>, the 49ers head coach added. <\/p>

Aiyuk suffered the horrific injury late in the second quarter after catching a 15-yard pass from Brock Purdy. He was sandwiched between Justin Reid and Chamarri Conner, with Reid’s body pinning Aiyuk’s left ankle while Conner’s hip drove into his right knee.<\/p>

Aiyuk had two catches for 23 yards against the Chiefs before he was taken off due to injury. <\/p>
