Throughout the history of the NFL<\/a>, there have been some highly controversial plays and rules that have since been banned from the NFL. Many of these plays\/rules were just considered to dangerous in the NFL or it simply gave a lot of advantage to the defensive or the offensive players. There are\/were a lot of play calls that have the fans, players, and coaches all hated in the past and some plays are still hated to this day. Let us look at some of them.<\/p>

The Tuck rule. It has been banned from the NFL now but was one of the most controversial rules ever. The rule stated that if an offensive player intentionally moved their arms forward while holding the ball, it was considered a forward pass, even if they lost the ball while attempting to tuck it. Tom Brady used the play infamously in Super Bowl XXXVI, which helped them win the Super Bowl matchup against the St. Louis Rams. The play was banned in 2013. <\/p>

One of the more controversial play call is the quarterback slide. It is a maneuver where the quarterback slides to the ground before a defensive player can tackle or hit them. Even though the slides protects the QB from any serious injury, many coaches, players, and fans, do not think of it that way. <\/p>

Many fans of the NFL complain about how the league has become soft. They also think that this play gets exploited by quarterbacks such as Patrick Mahomes. There have been many instances where QBs slide exactly when a defensive player is about to make a sack or a tackle. This results in severe penalties or even ejections from the game, for a defensive player.<\/p>

Recently, the Green Bay Packers’ president and CEO, Mark Murphy revealed that he hated a particular play in the NFL. Let’s find out what it is.<\/p>

“I am not a fan of this play. There is no skill involved and it is almost an automatic first down on plays of a yard or less. The series of plays with the Commanders jumping offsides in the NFC Championship Game to try to stop the play was ridiculous. The referee even threatened to give the Eagles an automatic touchdown if the Commanders did not stop it. I would like to see the league prohibit pushing or aiding the runner [QB] on this play”, Murphy said. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

What is a Tush Push play in the NFL?<\/h2>

A Tush Push play is when the team who has the possession of the ball, gathers to quite literally push the Quarterback forward from behind. This is usually done with the team just needs a few yards to get another first down. The Philadelphia Eagles are known for this play and it was generated a lot of hate from the opposition. <\/p>

There Tush Push was prohibited before but it is no longer the case. Mark Murphy believes that this play is bad for the game and the league should go back to banning the push of a runner.<\/p>
