Fight cancellations are usually a nightmare for UFC<\/a> fighters. They spend thousands of dollars on training camps, cut weight, and sometimes end up with nothing to show for it. The fight game can be cruel that way. But sometimes, even in the messiest situations, things work out – and that’s exactly what happened to Beneil Dariush at UFC 311, though he probably didn’t expect his night to start with a 4 AM phone call.<\/p>

When the UFC 311 main event fell apart due to Arman Tsarukyan’s injury, it set off a chain reaction. Dariush’s opponent, Renato Moicano, got pulled from their fight to face Islam Makhachev for the title instead. <\/p>

What Did Beneil Dariush Say About The UFC’s Approach To Him<\/h2>

Most fighters would be fuming at this point. Imagine making weight just to watch your opponent get a title shot! But Dariush, ever the professional, handled it with remarkable grace. During his chat with The Schmo, he revealed how the early morning drama unfolded. His manager, Ali Abdelaziz, woke him up, asking if he could make weight, getting his hopes up for a possible title shot. However, Renato Moicano later got the shot.<\/p>

But, here is where the story takes a pleasant turn. Instead of leaving Dariush high and dry, the UFC stepped up to take care of their veteran fighter. Dana White and the promotion made sure Dariush received both his show and win money, even though he never stepped foot in the octagon. <\/p>
