The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed Korean infielder Hye-seong Kim to a three-year deal<\/a> worth $12.5 million. The contract includes a club option for 2028 and 2029, potentially pushing the deal’s value to $22 million. The move strengthens the Dodgers’ infield options as they prepare for the 2025 season.<\/p>

Dodgers make room for Kim on the roster<\/h2>

To accommodate Kim, the Dodgers designated catching prospect Diego Cartaya for assignment. Once considered a top-10 prospect, Cartaya’s struggles with injuries and poor performance in the minors, combined with Will Smith’s long-term extension and the emergence of Dalton Rushing, have led to his diminished role.<\/p>

Kim’s skill set and versatility<\/h2>

Kim, 25, brings flexibility to the Dodgers’ infield. He has primarily played second base but has experience at shortstop and third base.
