Standing 6 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 218 pounds, Thiero plays as a forward and power forward. Thiero attended Quaker Valley High School in Leetsdale, Pennsylvania, where he excelled in basketball, soccer, and lacrosse. In his senior year, he averaged an impressive 23.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 3.9 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game, leading Quaker Valley to a 27-1 record. He was an ESPN 4-star recruit. His collegiate career began at the University of Kentucky, where he played from 2022 to 2024. In his freshman season (2022-23), he appeared in 20 games, averaging 2.3 points and 1.9 rebounds in 9.5 minutes per game. During his sophomore year (2023-24) at Kentucky, he played in 25 games, averaging 7.2 points and 5.0 rebounds. He was a key player, leading the team in rebounding in eight games and scoring in double figures in five games, including a notable double-double against #1 Kansas with 16 points and 13 rebounds. After the 2023-24 season, Thiero entered his name in the 2024 NBA draft and the NCAA transfer portal. For his junior season (2024-25), Thiero transferred to the University of Arkansas. Despite missing ten games due to injury, he played in 27 games, starting 26, leading the team in scoring with 15.1 points per game and in rebounding with 5.8 rebounds per game. He was the only Razorback to attempt over 100 free throws, making 120 of 175. He recorded three double-doubles during his time at Arkansas, including a 17-point, 11-rebound performance against Georgia. He helped the Razorbacks achieve an overall record of 22-14 and reach the Sweet 16 of the 2025 NCAA Division I men&rsquo;s basketball tournament. After this season, he declared for the 2025 NBA draft. Adou Thiero was selected by the Brooklyn Nets in the second round, 36th overall pick, of the 2025 NBA Draft on June 26, 2025. He was subsequently traded to the Los Angeles Lakers as part of a seven-team trade that involved Kevin Durant, with the Lakers sending the 45th overall pick (which became Rocco Zikarsky) and cash considerations to the Nets. Recently, news indicates that Thiero missed Summer League and training camp due to a knee injury.
