Standing at 6 ft 9 in (2.06 m) and weighing 190 lb (86 kg), Huntley plays as a power forward and shoots right-handed. He attended Davidson Day School in Davidson, North Carolina, for his high school education, where he developed his basketball skills.<\/p><p>Huntley then pursued his collegiate career at Appalachian State University, playing for the Appalachian State Mountaineers from 2020 to 2025. During his time at App State, Huntley demonstrated a strong work ethic and became a significant player for the team. He finished his college career with an impressive 1,324 points and appeared in 153 games, which ties him for the most in program history. He was also part of 96 wins, the second-most all-time for the Mountaineers. His collegiate performance included averages of 8.7 points per game throughout his career, with his most productive season being 2024-25, where he averaged 15.7 points per game. He was recognized for his efforts, earning Second Team All-Sun Belt honors in 2025.<\/p><p>Following an impactful college career, CJ Huntley entered the 2025 NBA draft but was not selected. Despite going undrafted, his talent and potential were recognized, leading to a significant opportunity. On June 26, 2025, Huntley signed a two-way contract with the Phoenix Suns. This contract allows him to play for both the Phoenix Suns in the NBA and their NBA G League affiliate, the Valley Suns. This arrangement provides him with valuable experience and development opportunities at both professional and developmental league levels.
