The Chiefs gain nothing from this game as they are 15-1 and #1 seed in the AFC. But their opponents today have a lot riding on this game!
Kansas City Chiefs stranded! This news did get a major scare to the NFL fans as the Chiefs squad was stuck at the Kansas City airport for some time due to extreme weather conditions. But things are up and running now as we are all set for an exciting clash today.
The Chiefs have nothing to gain from this game as Andy Reid’s boys are 15-1, with a hold over the AFC West and #1 seed in the AFC. But their opponents today, who also happen to be their divisional rival, have a lot riding on this game.
Joey B and the Bengals winning last night against the Steelers has made the AFC playoff picture very interesting. But the team that plays against the Chiefs is also one of the two teams with a ‘win and in’ chance today. So, who do the Kansas City Chiefs play today and what time does the Chiefs game kick-off? Let’s find out.
The Kansas City Chiefs (15-1) will take on the Denver Broncos (9-6) for their week 18 game. The Chiefs have already qualified for the playoffs, clinched the AFC West division and laid claim to the #1 seed in the AFC.
Home field advantage till the Conference Championship game, first round-bye, favorable match-ups; everything seems to be going Kansas City’s way right now. For today’s game, the Chiefs have rested QB1 Patrick Mahomes, TE Travis Kelce, RB Kareem Hunt, LB Nick Bolton, Justin Reed and LB Drue Tranquill. DL Chris Jones and CB Trent McDuffie who are recovering from injuries have been rested too.
But this game carries a lot of significance for Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos. The last time these two teams met, the Chiefs came out on top. But afterwards, the Broncos went on a 4-game win streak. But today, they enter this game after back-to-back losses to the Chargers and the Bengals.
Beat the Chiefs and book your playoff ticket: it doesn’t get any bigger for Sean Payton’s men. Tonight’s game won’t be a walk in the park. And even after a win, the Broncos will find themselves up against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the wildcard round.
This will be the last home game of the season for the Denver Broncos, who are 5-2 in 7 games played at the Empower Field this season. Rookie QB Bo Nix would love to end the regular season on a high. He is way ahead when compared to the likes of fellow rookie QBs like Caleb Williams and Drake Maye.
The only rookie Nix can be compared to this season is the Commanders signal caller Jayden Daniels, who will also be in action against the Dallas Cowboys today. Under Nix, the Broncos offense is ranked 10th overall as he is tied with Daniels for the most passing touchdowns by a rookie this season.
Together with Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims Jr, Nix and co. would look to shut down the Chiefs and seize the last playoff spot left in the AFC! If they do manage to pull this off, this will be the first postseason appearance for the Broncos since 2015!
The Chiefs game today will kick-off from the Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado at 4:25 p.m. ET. This will be the final ‘on the road’ game for the Kansas City Chiefs. Mahomes and co. have lost just 1 game this season and that too was an away game for the Chiefs!
