Durant fueled the Suns' triumph over the Mavericks with an impressive performance.
Kevin Durant ignited the Phoenix Suns in their home opener, securing a 114-102 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. A key moment occurred when Durant hit a contested jumper over Luka Doncic, energizing the crowd at Footprint Center.
In the fourth quarter, Durant faced Doncic one-on-one with 4:24 remaining. He rose for a pull-up mid-range jumper, despite tight defense. The shot swished through the net, and Durant followed up with a “too small” gesture aimed at the Mavericks’ star.
Durant finished the night with 31 points, shooting 10-of-21 from the field. He also made four three-pointers on eight attempts, showcasing his scoring ability. Additionally, he contributed nine rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block in 39 minutes.
This performance marked Durant’s second consecutive game scoring over 30 points. His strong showing was pivotal in securing the Suns’ first home win of the season.
Durant continues to play at an MVP-level despite turning 36 last month. He is averaging 28.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks per contest while shooting 52.7% from the field and 50.0% from the three-point range in the first three games.
Following this victory, the Suns improved their season record to 2-1, while the Mavericks dropped to 1-1 with their first loss.
