Cowboys' Trevon Diggs faces off with a reporter post-game, following their 30-24 loss, over a controversial social media post
The Cowboys’ Sunday night defeat to the 49ers ended on a tense note, with cornerback Trevon Diggs avoiding locker room interviews and later confronting a reporter in Levi’s Stadium’s hallway.
Mike Leslie of WFAA had shared a clip of Diggs seeming to hold back while attempting to tackle 49ers tight end George Kittle during a second-quarter play.
“What is Trevon Diggs doing on this play?” Leslie asked on Twitter.
Fair question.
“That’s what you took from that?” Diggs shot back. “Out of that whole play, that’s what you took from that? You don’t know football. Can’t do nothing that I do. You can’t go out there and do nothing. Stay in your lane, buddy. Stop trying me, dog.”
“Just asking the question, Trevon,” Leslie replied. “I mean, I’m happy to have you answer the question.”
“Out of that whole play, that’s what you took from that? That’s what you got from that? Out of that whole play, that’s what you got from that?”
“We can talk about it more,” Leslie offered.
As Diggs walked off, he threw in a final jab: “Talk about deez nuts.”
Trevon Diggs remained silent with other reporters once the locker room opened for media.
Sunday night’s game saw Diggs record five tackles—his highest count in over a month. This season, he’s tallied 23 total tackles and one interception, marking his fifth year with the Cowboys.
Dallas, now 3-4, suffered from two interceptions by quarterback Dak Prescott, making it his third game in a row with multiple turnovers. This loss followed their bye week and a 47-9 rout by the Detroit Lions two weeks earlier.
Next up, the Cowboys will face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday (1 p.m. ET, Fox).
Whether Diggs misplayed that coverage or not, the mood in the Cowboys’ locker room seems about as bleak as it has been in recent memory. Diggs’ reaction Sunday night captures that sentiment all too well.
