T.J. Watt powers Steelers’ defense to victory with clutch strip sack against Giants

Austin and Watt brought the heat! Steelers fans, this duo turned the game around in style.

The Steelers nearly let a hard-earned victory slip through their fingers. Fortunately, they have the league’s top defensive player on their side. T.J. Watt, the star pass rusher, leads Pittsburgh’s defense, which happens to be the most expensive lineup in the NFL.

With the game on the line, T.J. Watt proved once again why he’s worth every penny. In the critical moments against the Giants, his clutch plays made all the difference.

In the red zone, Watt took matters into his own hands. After grabbing a shoestring tackle on Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, he followed it with a classic Watt move: a strip sack that turned the game around.

Steelers Win 26-18 as T.J. Watt delivers game-saving strip-sack

It was a brilliant play from Pittsburgh’s defensive ace, as he powered past the right tackle to deliver a game-ending sack.

Here’s how it went down: With Pittsburgh up by eight, the Giants were gaining ground after recovering a Russell Wilson fumble near midfield. But their drive came to a halt when Watt broke through New York’s offensive line on 3rd-and-7, dropping Jones at the 28-yard line and seizing possession back for Pittsburgh.

Watt’s forced fumble and recovery capped off a night of relentless defense, finishing with two sacks after a two-game lull.

Following T.J. Watt’s game-changing recovery, the Steelers’ offense focused on running down the clock. A couple of penalties on the Giants added to Pittsburgh’s control as time dwindled. After reaching a 4th-and-2 just past the two-minute warning, the Steelers opted to punt, pinning the Giants deep in their own territory.

Trailing 26-18 with time slipping away, the Giants pushed forward with completions to Malik Nabers and Theo Johnson, but Jones’ last attempt ended in an interception at the Steelers’ 35-yard line. Pittsburgh took over and drained the final seconds, clinching the victory.

It was a frustrating night for the Giants’ offense

Giants quarterback Daniel Jones had a rare outburst after a missed two-point conversion in the fourth quarter. It was here that the offensive line seemed to falter, leaving him with no protection.

It was a moment that summed up the night.

Every time the Giants offense found some momentum, they’d end up taking steps backward. That too with errors and penalties. Following the failed play, Jones was visibly upset on the sidelines, at one point waving his arms in frustration while speaking to coach Brian Daboll.

Jones faced four sacks as his offensive line struggled to keep him safe from T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. Late in the fourth, the defense forced a fumble with a chance to tie, but right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor couldn’t hold off Watt, who forced yet another fumble.

Jones finished with 24 completions on 38 attempts, totaling 264 yards with one interception.
