Both teams will look to rebound from their opening night setbacks.
The Philadelphia 76ers (0-1) will visit the Toronto Raptors (0-1) at Scotiabank Arena on Friday, October 25, 2024, with tip-off set for 7:00 PM ET. This will be the first meeting of the season between these Atlantic Division rivals.
In their season openers on Wednesday, the 76ers fell to the Bucks with a 124-109 loss, while the Raptors were defeated 136-106 by the Cavaliers.
The matchup marks another Toronto return for coach Nick Nurse, who spent a decade coaching in Toronto, along with Raptors legend Kyle Lowry.
As both teams look to secure their first win of the season, let us dive into the rosters and project the likely starting lineups for this matchup.
The Sixers will once again be short-handed for their matchup, as Joel Embiid is out due to ongoing management of a left knee injury. This decision is part of the organization’s strategy to ensure he is healthy and ready for the playoffs in April and May.
Paul George is also listed as out with a left knee bone bruise. However, coach Nick Nurse noted during Thursday’s practice that both he and Embiid are making progress toward their returns.
Caleb Martin, meanwhile, is listed as probable with a right calf contusion.

The Toronto Raptors will be missing key players in their second game of the season against the Philadelphia 76ers. Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett have both been listed as doubtful for Friday’s matchup. Quickley sustained a right pelvic contusion in Wednesday’s season opener against Cleveland after a hard fall on his tailbone when contesting a rebound.
Quickley, who joined the Raptors from the New York Knicks last season, averaged 18.6 points, 6.8 assists, and 4.8 rebounds over 38 games for Toronto. Rookie guard Jamal Shead is expected to step into a larger role in Quickley’s absence.
Meanwhile, RJ Barrett remains day-to-day with a sprained shoulder suffered during a preseason game on October 6. Other sidelined players include center Kelly Olynyk (back), forward Bruce Brown (recovering from knee surgery), and rookie guard Ja’Kobe Walter (sprained shoulder).
