Buddy Hield steps up to guide Warriors to a victory over Pelicans
On Tuesday night, Buddy Hield put on an impressive performance as the Golden State Warriors got the better of the New Orleans Pelicans. With Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins ruled out of the game, the Warriors walked into the game as underdogs.
Moreover, after falling behind by 17 points in the very first quarter, things were expected to get worse by the time the game ended. However, that did not seem to be the case. From the second quarter, the Warriors turned up the defense.
Offensively, it was Buddy Hield who led the Warriors. He scored 28 points in the game, 25 of which came in the second half. It’s a season-best tally for the new Warriors man with, Brandin Podziemski also having an important role in the comeback with 19 points.
Ultimately, not only did the Warriors come back from a 17-point deficit, they ended up winning the game 124-106.
Steph Curry has been sidelined after suffering a left ankle sprain against the LA Clippers. He is expected to miss at least two NBA games, with the possibility of being out for more time. With that said, the Warriors will be without him for their next game against the Pelicans as well.

Having stepped up in their first game against the Pelicans, Buddy Hield will certainly look to lead the Warriors to a victory in their second game as well. However, if the injury ends up keeping Curry out for an extended period of time, it is hard to imagine Hield filling his shoes.
By no way does it mean that Hield isn’t an extremely capable player, but Curry is just on another level. That said, it remains to be seen how it plays out.
