Garrett Wilson, Aaron Rodgers help Jets break 5-game slump but can they make it to the postseason?

The slump is finally over. Week 9 Thursday Night Football game between the Jets and the Texans saw Aaron Rodgers and co. finally snap their 5-game losing streak. The Jets have now improved to 2-2 in home games.

Being a Jets fan is tough. Aaron Rodgers coming back healthy gave them hope. So did the reunion of Rodgers and wideout Davante Adams. 3 preseason wins and 2-1 through week 3, things were looking good for the Jets.

But the game can be cruel sometimes. 5 losses on the trot and the Jets found themselves 2-6 through Week 8 of the regular season. But a win over the Texans in Week 9 is a welcome sight for the Jets.

Garrett Wilson lays strong claim to the ‘Catch of the Year’ title

The Jets vs. Texans game started slow but gave us some exciting moments towards the end. It was a night of one-handers for Garrett Wilson, who first caught a picture perfect pass from Jets QB Aaron Rodgers, to convert it into a touchdown.

But the night was about to get better for the 24-year old wideout. In the 4th quarter, a 26-yard throw from Aaron Rodgers was caught one-handed by Garrett Wilson in the end zone. It was initially ruled out but after review, Wilson laid claim to one of the best ‘Catch of the Year’ entries. Wilson had a great night out at the home game with 9 receptions, 90 receiving yards for 2 touchdowns.

First win for Davante Adams as a Jets player

What better way to seal a come from behind win than some Aaron Rodgers-Davante Adams magic! A 37-yard pass from Rodgers was caught by Jets WR Davante Adams, who ran the ball to the endzone to take the Jets to 20-10 up, with less than 3 minutes remaining on the clock.

Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams were running the ball like they were supposed to and Aaron Rodgers looked in sublime form in the Jets’ win over the Texans. But is it a bit too late for the Jets to qualify for the postseason?

Can the Jets still qualify for the 2024 NFL Postseason?

Technically speaking, yes they can. The Jets are 3-6 through week 9, with 8 games and a bye-week for Week 12 of the 2024 NFL regular season. Aaron Rodgers and co. will have to win most of the games, if not all the remaining games.

7 wins in the next 8 games will take the Jets to a regular season record of 10-7, which is strong enough to secure a wild card spot, if not for an automatic playoff berth. A win-loss record of 9-8 might hamper their chances even further, leaving their fate possibly to a tie-breaker scenario. An 8-9 record at the end of the regular season will almost be impossible, given the Jets are in the AFC.

With the Super Bowl just 100 days away, the race for the postseason is set to pick pace and Jets fans will be hoping for their side to pull off a miracle from here!
